What the Parents say…
Pam McCall
Austin arrived at Star in 2004 from a public system that was affecting his self-belief. Large classes and broken promises were the main factors in Pam’s decision to seek out an environment that would provide Austin with the boundaries he needed, along with the freedom to challenge himself academically. Now in Grade 9 he is mentoring his peers in I.T. at his High School.
Kendal, in Grade 2, is a bright and very social student who has always had a Love of Learning. Of course he doesn’t express it like that, he just enjoys school!
Kelly Clark
Jason joined mid-year (March 2008) and quickly embraced life at Star. His family immediately began to see attitude and enthusiasm change for the better. Jason now feels supported and is beginning to catch up to his age appropriate peers. Public school class size dictated that Jason could not receive the attention he needed and, prior to Star, was beginning to doubt himself as a learner.
Sue Taggart
In 1998, Marissa joined as a gifted child who was not being challenged. She would neither ask nor answer questions in class, and was being bullied and tormented be a clique of girls at her former school. Star was able to get her to see herself as a leader and ensured that she was challenged in all aspects of her schooling. Marissa has now graduated with Honours from her International Baccalaureate course.
